Wireless

Joyous day. We are now the proud owners or a wireless router. This instantly kicks me up at least 3 notches on whatever geek scale you care to use. Ok so I don't get to use the lap top that is the only computer in this house that can take advantage of the wireless router but I find it cool none the less.

The new router brings me back up to a total of four working ports. One of the ports on the old router just gave up the ghost and refused to work for no apparent reason. The solution was to move the connection that is wired into the parents room into the port that had up till that point serviced my Xbox. Now I have an Xbox port again. I can play counter strike and have 12 yr olds beat the living excrement out of me. Joy.

Now Xbox makes a little wireless access thingy that I just might have to pick up thus freeing up another port. This port I will use for what I will call "the experimental machine of dead computer parts." My younger brother has a 433 he no longer uses gathering dust in the basement. I have a 333 gathering dust in my closet. I will now take both hard drives, the 433 processor,a 17 inch monitor and put together a machine that will never be turned off. I can store this in my room and then I have to figure out how to access other computers on the local area network. I have no idea how to do this. I may have to bribe a more knowledgeable geek to do this for me.

Now the real question: Why? Why Everest? Why swim the English channel. Because I can. Because it's there. Because every man needs a hobby. Because I don't have a working computer in my bedroom.

In conclusion: Wireless is cool. I suck at Counter Strike. Geeks dream of servers.
