What does this picture tell you?
Stop the Madness
It tells me the people who do the shopping in this house have the least idea of what we have stored on the shelves in the basement. Every time they go to the store they make of "list" of things we need without once stepping down to the basement to see what we have. Now add in this bit. The old man cannot pass up a sale on tomato sauce. I don't know if as a child they ran out at one time or something but every time he sees it reasonably priced he picks up half a dozen cans.
This brings me to my next point. The old man, for some reason or another, thinks that we need enough food to feed 10 or more people per meal. Every time we turn on the grill I'm eating left over sausage and burgers for days. (Well the burgers go pretty fast. Then its days of looking at a plastic baggy of grilled hot dogs and saying, "Do I really want to cook something else. This is so convenient."
Check out the stack of cranberry sauce. It's not like we even eat it for anything other than a holiday.
I may have to supervise their next trip to Sam's Club. It will be like the mother who takes things out of the cart when the kids are throwing in candy and toys. Instead I'll be grabbing cereal boxes and anything canned.

It's like the squirrels stockpiling nuts for winter. Great post!
there's something about tomato sauce and paste. it's irresistable when it's on sale 3 8oz cans for a dollar. why i buy it, i don't know. i use it when making chili and that's about it. in fact, it's only the tomato sauce that i use in chili. why the hell i have tomato paste is a loss to me. i have to throw out cans of it everytime i clean the shelves because some of it is inevitably past its date.
one day, someone will have to shop for me. with all the crap they wouldn't be tricked into buying for me, i'd still be saving money and not to go to the grocery.
