Scary Button
So anyway instead of the Google ads atop the free blogger pages we now get this nifty slim little bar. I approve. Just don't push that button up in the right hand corner that says "Next Blog." It's just not worth it.
It's like some guys were sitting around smoking up -- I mean brain storming -- and they have a conversation like this
Stoned Tech Guy 1 : So dude. You know those web rings that all the bloggers join?
Stoned Tech Guy 2 : Yeah.
STG 1 : Huh? Oh yeah. So you know how we have all the urls to these blogs?
STG 2 : We do? I mean, Yeah.
STG 1 : So what if we made our own web ring?
STG 2 : Huh?
STG 1 : Like you know just put all the blogs into one monster web ring. So all you have to do is push this button see.
STG 2 : And?
STG 1 : It takes people to a totally random blog. So then we tell all of em that we are giving them even more exposure by adding them to this monster web ring free of charge.
STG 2: Awesome. You wanna smoke another ?
STG 1: Yeah.
This my vision of the way the event transpired. The button borders on useless. You press it and it takes you to a completely random (but apparently recently updated) blog. I've hit many the have pop ups. Many are in languages I cannot even identify. Some are in languages I can identify, but don't understand. I've seen a whole ton of the praise-be-to-the-lord type blogs. Guess praying next to bed or in church isn't enough anymore. People need to send the big man internet epistles daily (or even hourly). I've seen a lot of blogs with maybe one or two posts that trail off into nothingness. Those make me sad. They go away before they have a chance to show just how petty and terrible their authors truly are. No self realization. No enlightment just another failed hobby.
I've yet to see a blog that sparked my interest using this random button. Yet it calls to me. Not a day has gone by since the change over that I haven't clicked on it to see if maybe I'll get lucky this time with something interesting or, if I am really lucky, someone's nekkid pics. (or maybe really unlucky if they are nasty nekkid pics). The button has it's own morbid appeal. I can't stop clicking it.
Must stop writing. Need to click button now.

Isn't it addictive, though?
I have found a couple that are worthy, and I am following them now, but the ratio is probably 2:284. interesting that you mentioned the nekkid pic blogs - I stumbled upon one - full of copyrighted pics of celebs and what not. There was an actual text post on the blog that pondered how much longer blogger would keep the "Next Blog" button when it realized that people searching for prayer buddies would hit sites like that. I had wondered that too. You'd think they would make the porn blogs restricted or make people verify their age or something before viewing. But no, they're wide open. It doesn't bother me personally but I can see how it might cause legal issues at some point. In any case, I commented on the post and my reward was - now my blogger profile pic is posted there amongst all the boobies. Yeah. My claim to fame. HA So, that explains all the additional traffic showing up on my sitemeter today....
Happy blogging.
Hmm I don't think pictures of me would generate that kind of traffic. I think we will have to get the Shy to do it when she gets back from vacation.
