The Fat Lottery
So the Fat people show (aka The Biggest Loser) has a casting call in Chicago. As a fat person I'd have to say that just winning the chance to be on the show is like having the Publishers Clearinghouse People show up at your doorstep or winning the lottery. Sure there may be more money involved in the other options but the money really isn't the concern, it is all about going to the best known, most successful appearing (thank you television) weight loss center around.
Now I've been working with a doctor for a little over a year now on my weight. I've had good progress overall, though I think this past month of being shut in with holiday food hasn't been kind. Not yet where I want to be, but definitely in my way. Still I think I might want to jump into that casting call line.
I over 300 pounds. While on my frame it doesn't look as bad as it would on someone with smaller bones and a few less inches, it is still an unhealthy weight. I think this should meet the requirements for the show. Even if it doesn't I see that as a win. I wouldn't be fat enough to go on the fat people show. A quirk boost to the old self esteem.
Next its 10 weeks out of this climate and away from my home. So what if they want to run me up and down hills and make me room with a bunch of guys. It would be a vacation from the almost four years I've spent here since the mother decide to have a heart attack. New faces. Nice weather. Bad music and exercise equipment.
Finally there is the fascination with the women loosing weight. I've seen the final shows. I admit this one reality show weakness. Holy Hotness Batman. These women go from "She has a pretty face and a wonderful personality" to "Oh My God. The things that woman could do to me on a spring board!" The show warps a mans perception. One starts to look at people with an eye that shaves off a few pounds and tones up a few things here and there. The what if she walked for a half hour every night eye, one might call it.
If for no other reason I should brave the cold and get in line just to have something new to write about, to give myself time to think outside the box. It doesn't matter how much of the world I can have beamed in by internet, television and radio my well of inspiration runs dry without human interaction. I can stand in like and make fat lottery jokes with my fell would be losers. Then we can all go across the street to the donut shop.

I hate reality shows, but I am totally addicted to this one. Maybe it's because I lost so much weight awhile ago, I dunno. I do know that it is a life changing experience. Go for it!
