DVD Review: Bubba Ho-Tep
If you don't know who Bruce Campbell is, then you need to hang up your geek hat. He is the king of the B grade movies. In Bubba Ho-Tep he plays an aged Elvis or Elvis impersonator you are never really sure and it really doesn't matter. The movie is campy but not that bad. A "thank you very much" and a mention of peanut butter and banana sandwich cannot pass but the cheesy Elvis one liners do not overtake the film. The nursing home looks deliberately foul and the nurse's outfit is something right out the 1950's B movie body suit cleavage catalog. Campbell does an excellent job. Ossie Davis has some great lines as a elderly black man who thinks he is really JFK. The Mummy wears cowboy boots. I gotta say that I highly recommend this flick. So get out there and watch it now. Do it! Then get back to me.
