Wal - Mart Renters

To say I'm not a fan of Wal - Mart would be a gross understatement. I detest the corporation as a whole, despise their little smilely face logo and actively will bad karma to all the people who star in their commercials, proudly proclaiming Wal - Mart the pinnacle of modern existence. I hope they never make any headway into Chicago as it will destroy our existing markets.

That said, I can not understand people who go to Wal - Mart to buy an appliance or high ticket item, with the intention of returning the item before the policy expiration date for a full refund. The customer service reps who run the returns counter wont argue with people. The store knows that the majority of the people who return an item will probably spend the cost if not in that visit, then in a future visit. So Wal - Mart Renters can get away with it for a while.

These days stores and corporations are starting to tracking purchasing records with greater detail as to what people buy and what they return. So the corporate world has built a defense to this kind scam.

So I was browsing on Fark and came across a link to this site. Dude bout what he thought was a router and ended up with a dirt in a bag. Some enterprising scammer knew that he / she couldn't just return an open router no questions asked so instead he / she weighted the box with the bag - o - dirt and plastic wrapped it closed. For the cost of some plastic and a resealing device a person is able to steal a lot of merchandise if one is careful. While I admit it is a thought provoking method, I am still left with a certain amount of disdain for the scam artist.

So I'm thinking that this kind of creative intelligence needs to be harnessed before it slides down the con - artists path. If you see young criminals in the making I say turn em into some kind of cause - head instead. Adbusters is a good place for the anti corporate greed minded, but each of us have our own causes and some of them conflict with each other I'm sure. I promote the Master Plan (to take over the world) other people are also working out their own So-Called Master Plans (to take over the world) and we just cant all rule the world unless we develop some sort of Hive mind and I'm not all that keen on the entire Hive mind thing. So I'll work against it.

In Summary: Wal - Mart is bad. Scam Artist are bad. Give a kid an ideology today.

Thought you'd enjoy this one ... a forward doing the rounds. Some good ideas to include as a part of the Master Plan!

* * *

15 things a man can do at Wal-Mart -- while the wife is taking her sweet time:

1. Get 24 boxes of condoms & randomly put them in people's carts when they aren't looking.
2. Set all the alarm clocks in House wares to go off at 5 minute intervals.
3. Make a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the ladies rest-room.
4. Walk up to an employee and tell him/her in an official tone: 'Code 3 in House wares' . and see what happens.
5. Go to the Service Desk and ask to put a bag of M&M's on lay-away.
6. Move a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted area.
7. Set-up a tent in the Camping Department -- and tell other shoppers you're sleeping over; invite them in if they bring pillows from the Bedding Department.
8. When a clerk asks if they can help you, begin to cry and ask: "Why can't you people just leave ! me alone?"
9. Look right into the security camera, use it as a mirror and pick your nose.
10. While handling guns in the Hunting Department, ask the clerk if he knows where the anti-depressants are.
11. Dart around the store suspiciously, while loudly humming the theme from Mission Impossible."
12. In the Auto Department, practice your "Madonna look" using different sized funnels.
13. Hide in a clothing rack . . when people browse through, say: "PICK ME!!! PICK ME!!!"
14. When an announcement comes over the loudspeaker, assume the fetal position and scream "NO!...It's those voices again!!!"...
And last but not least:
15. Go into a fitting room, shut the door and wait a while... then yell loudly: "There's no toilet paper in here!"

I have started many a blog about that place and just can't bring myself to do it. It riles me too much. I would drive 20 miles out of my way and pay twice as much for something I need rather than step foot in there.

Anyhooo...

Hive mentality, hmmm? Come to my honeypot, Rich... come to my honeypot. I will be ruler of the universe soon. You will be assimilated.

As a Sears employee, I too hate Wal-Mart. I hate them for many reasons. Mostly for driving the rate of pay down in our town. I would even talk about the fact the the downtown area that was starting to come back is now dead again. All Hail Wal-Mart and its CEO Satan!!

Love and Light,
Robyn

I've had some more thoughts about this sort of ranting that I'll get to in a couple days.

The 15 things remind me of fight club. I wrote about that in my hard bound journal once upon a time I'll refresh myself on the gist of my argument and post on that as well. My list of things of things I'm going to blog about is getting rather long. I may need to pull a couple more double posting days.

I've had an almost-completed rant against Wal-Mart on my column short-list for well over a year. I've been waiting for just the right moment to post it. A disconnected rant doesn't do it: there has to be some sort of controversy brewing before I can wade in with my two cents (before rollback, of course.)

I am also concerned that it's just a little too nasty in its current form. I'm sure I'd be persona non grata in Bentonville if I ever published it. Still, given time, I am confident I will.

Between them and a couple other larger chains they've done a pretty good job on a lot of towns in downstate Illinois. The middle class is rapidly disappearing outside urban areas.
