so i opened a link
i'm not a sara mclachlan fan. i don't know enough about her music to say if i like it or if i don't like it. i probably won't put the effort into finding out. however, a friend of mine did what she was famous for--a mass forwarding of links. i opened a few.
this was one of them. i didn't cry but i didn't get up and leave the room either. the link makes some sense out of all of the money we blow and then claim we don't have any--it even further demonstrates how much money is wasted on our entertainment. the music wasn't awful. the video isn't long. go ahead, watch it.
now i have a lot to say on overpopulation and i think i've said a lot of it before. my main point being that if you feed 100 uneducated, starving people, they will survive only to breed, furthering the problem. this sounds terrible. it is terrible, but in reality, i guess i'm a terrible person. then again, if you feed and educate 50 people, there is less a problem.
anyway, maybe this sara and the producers of this video are right. much better things could be done with our money than music videos. when they break it down like that, i can't really argue with it. we could spare a few punk and rap videos.

Shy, great post, and some interesting things to ponder.
that seems to be the constant complaint. we could feed people with money being spent on ______. For every bit of research or government funded project out there, someone is decrying how wasteful and how horrible it is to spend the money in that particular fashion. I'm particularly irked by the anti space luddites.
Anti-space luddites are a far cry away from the people who say we should curb some of the silly things we spend money upon. Though, some of those things reap interesting rewards at the end, no matter how trivial they seem at the time.
If we wish to change things, we vote. Granted, that doesn't seem to make a difference in Presidential elections, but still works for Reps and Senators, right? Until they have electoral colleges too, that is.
I just like saying anti-space luddites. It's fun. And while they do irk me mightily, ther is another class of technologically challeged people who pridefully proclaim that they don't even know how to turn a computer on. I could beat em bloody with a wet noodle.
