overpopulation in my bathroom
I have a deal going with the spiders in my house. So long as they do not crawl above me in the shower or try and cohabitate with me on the bed, they may stay in the house, eating the little gnats that get through my screens.
What happens when they violate the terms? Nothing drastic. I catch them in a jar and relocate them outside. my ever patient boyfriend has also adopted my spider tolerence. he's actually starting to like them as much as i do.
However, it seems that giving them so much freedom has created a problem. Living in my house is probably like living in a third world country for these spiders. There can’t possibly be enough bugs for all of them.
Today was the last straw. I awoke this morning, switched off the alarm and drug myself into the kitchen. When I opened the door to the refrigerator to get glass of juice, a spider fell out. Yes, you read it correctly; a spider fell out of my refrigerator. Where exactly he fell from, I am not for certain.. What I do know is that he was cold. I thought he was dead at first but he slowly starting stumbling around. I put him in a jar, let him warm up so he got his senses together and put him outside—I didn’t want him to be vulnerable to predators in his chilled state.
This is a picture of the type of spider I usually get in the house:
This got me thinking---as much thinking as my mind can do at 7am. I started to wonder just how many spiders lived in my home. Seeing them in webs inches from each other, I started to think I should kick some of them out. Today, after work, I removed 9 brown house spiders from the corners of my bathroom. 9. I don’t want to think about how many actually live in the windows of my kitchen (where the gnats come through). I don’t want to think about how many baby spiders I will have if even one of those spiders left behind an egg sack. Baby spiders are quite cute, but if you’ve ever seen newly hatched spiders, you know that there are hundreds of them.
so now, as winter quickly approaches (ok, it was at least 85 f out, i'm thinking way in advance here)i need to re-evaluate my spider rules--the same rules that i've enforced for my entire life need to be revamped. i cannot have spiders so desperate for food that they're looking for food in my fridge-- but i can't be throwing them out once it gets cold. i'd feel like a monster all day, knowing that i killed a spider by tossing it out into the cold. i am hoping that my removing 9 from my bathroom and more tomorrow from other rooms, that i won't have to worry about it.
i tried to take a pic of the spiders from my house but my camera isn't really good enough for that. i get a fuzzy dot. while looking for a pic. to show, i came upon this site. it has some nice spidey pictures.
i shall now return to my school work.
What do you call a tick who lives on the moon?

Why - you're an arachnid lover after all! I thought you didn't like my orb weaver pic when you ragged on her fangs. But now the truth comes out!
I love my little autumn orb weavers.
i love spideys. rich may not be to fond of them though.... i think i shall have to go look for your orb weaver pic.
OH NO - I'm so sorry, Shy. I didn't notice that you posted this and not Rich. Silly me.
no need for apologies. i just thought of that when i went to look at your orb weaver pic....i haven't been around much lately due to the headache of completing my portfolio and other school related headaches. Rich has been the primary writer lately.
scratch that last line. Rich is the primary writer, i just haven't been around to contribute.
Kudos to you on school, Shy. By the way, I loved your post. I forgot to tell you about that.
They are evil and plotting against humanity. What did they offer you two to join their spider army. Or was it brainwashing. I wll no go cower in a well lit spider free area.
How to tell who is posting:
My Titles Look Like This
this would be a shy title
Note enough joe cool posts to tell from the titles.
i never noticed that difference in our posts. hmm. why don't i use capital letters?
Ahh, thanks for the hint, Rich. Or I could just *read* a little more attentively.
Shy - maybe because you're Shy? (no pun intended)
Email and Instant messages are seen by many asa very casual sort of thing wo they leave of the strictures of formal writing like punctuation and capitalization.
Personally I just throw comma's in hitther tither.
