Lazy Day
Every one in a while you just need to take a lazy day. Today was that day for me. The key to a successful lazy day is the ability to go back to sleep time and time again. The old man woke me up at some god awful hour (any hour before noon) to have a deli corned beef sandwich he brought home after going to court this morning. As I was grumpy and tired before I ate the sandwich the only reasonable thing to do was go have a nap on the recliner.
Some time later (never look at the clock when you are enjoying a lazy day) I awoke to the sound of my niece crying. This is not conducive to prolonged napping. I quickly made my escape.
Upon reaching my bedroom I barred the door to muffle the crying baby sounds an proceeded to stretch out on my bed with a book. Lazy Day reading is never about trying to tackle one of the mysteries of life or wading through the mad ramblings of the beats and other books in my box of guilt. The Lazy Day reading was a quick hundred pages of a Steven Brust novel. One would think that a story about an assassin shouldn't be light reading but hey this is one funny assassin. And he has got a little flying lizard buddy who is a bit of a smart ass.
After reading of course it was time for more napping. At this point the body will try to wake you up at the slightest noise. The body has had enough sleep. Just reposition and power through and in no time the day is almost completely gone. Sure by the time you eventually get out of bed your sleep schedule is completely shot, and if you get into a habit of doing this sort of thing people will think you are all sorts of depressed and are using sleep to escape the world, but as the occasional decadent treat, few things beat it.
Warning: Lazy days need a recovery day. Never attempt on a Sunday when you have to work the next day. It will not only screw up your Monday but probably through off the entire week. The entire idea behind a Lazy Day is relaxation not creating an impossible working situation. Saturday is a good Lazy Day but it is even better to take a Friday off as you get the added bonus of knowing that you aren't at work.

Sleep is my favorite activity. You're right about people thinking you're depressed if you sleep too much...my mom and my roommates were/are always riding my a** about it. My daily routine (if not working my night job) is to go home, eat, sleep 2 hours, then slouch on the couch til time for bed.
I am not a lazy person.
But some times I just feel tired.
And only thing I want to do is sleep and sleep and more sleep.
Zzzzz..
